The woman herself…

Hi! Welcome!  So that’s me: purple glasses, pink hair streaks, crooked smile.  My husband calls me Carly Rockstar Princess. I’m a 39-year-old psychologist and mom to two little girls, Madeira (almost 5 years old) and LeeLee (16 months old).  I’ve been married to my husband, Chris, for 9 years, although we’ve been together 19.  Full disclosure: Carly is my real first name, but everyone else is going by a nickname.  This is to protect the innocent, namely my psychotherapy clients who don’t need to know this much about my life and the inner workings of their therapist.

To me, glitter and guilt is what it’s all about these days.  I wanted to create a place to talk about the creative side of style and what it means in the midst of mothering, post-partum bodies, and all the things that are done and undone and the emotions that go with them.  Glitter & Guilt is the daily existential crisis amidst spontaneous dance parties and fashion shows, unlikely crafts, themed “dinner parties” created with dollar store decorations, tantrums, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  And laundry.  So. Much. Laundry.

Who am I?  I’m a woman with a doctorate.  I am a thinker, a planner, a shopper, a writer of stories, a teller of tales, a baker, a pancake maker, and a cake decorator.  I am head of wardrobe management, a business owner, a crafter, a kitchen dancer, a snuggler, a movie lover/critic, a reader, and a thrift store hunter.

My style swings toward vintage.   I love a good flare leg and velvet, boho luxe style. But over the past five or six years, I’ve veered toward non-cheesy pin-up territory, always blended with more classic or modern pieces.  Bags with bows.  Winged eyeliner.  Lace tees.  And always a slim black top with jeans.  Home decor style adds up to warm, cozy, vintage, and almost always a pop of RED!

All of the above comes rolled up in the sassy package you see above.  Thanks so much for joining me.  I hope you’ll let me know what you think.  Cheers!
